Starting with the business objectives and user needs, we redefined the information architecture, simplified search and filtering functions, and designed a modern, intuitive interface focused on information requests and quotations. The result is a clearer and faster user experience, consistent with the brand’s scientific positioning, with a responsive design that works perfectly on every device.
To manage over 50,000 products updated via Labochem’s back-office system, we opted for an architecture with two decoupled data sources: editorial content is hosted in a headless CMS, whilst the catalogue resides in a dedicated database. An automated synchronisation pipeline reads the export from the back-office system and updates the entire catalogue in under a minute, without the need for manual intervention.
With Next.js, we have combined the speed of a static website with the dynamic generation of 50,000 product pages from the database, whilst editorial content is managed using Sanity via a bespoke Studio solution for the editorial team. The website is fully bilingual (IT/EN) with dynamic routing; every page is translated and optimised for search engines using structured data. Each product sheet displays the molecular structure of the compound in real time based on its chemical notation and presents CAS numbers, compositions, formulas, molecular weight and certifications in a structured manner.
